True or False: I started my career as a trained Counselor, working with
adolescents.
Well, true. You can see that on my LinkedIn page. It's also true that adolescents
were my chosen population.
Why?
The answer was clear for me: a population of unlimited potential who needed
to understand how important their contributions were, are, and will be.
Sense a theme?
Back in those days, I was known as "Group Girl". I designed a full slate of
psychoeducational group curricula and facilitated the groups as well. As I moved
forward in my own career, those skills lent themselves to the corporate training
side. You know the ones: the soft skills. Empathy. Active Listening. Effective
Feedback. Communication. Collaboration. Those skills were in my wheelhouse,
sharpened by my mentors, and became applicable to every training situation I
found myself in.
Soft Skills are currently at the top of the list of most in-demand skills in the
working world. Effective soft skills in the workplace equal a positive and trusting
culture. Employees want to stay in an environment where they feel safe,
supported, and heard.
In the corporate training space, I use my knowledge to help companies build
effective cultures using soft skills training for all levels, from new employees to
mid-level managers to C-Suite.
